Eastport Arts Center’s Summer Workshop Series continues with Hilda Lewis’ Flower Arranging session, 1:30-3:30 pm, Tuesday, July 20. Geared for ages 12 and up, instruction will guide participants through the creation of a beautiful table centerpiece flower arrangement. Depending on the flowers Lewis is able to obtain, the arrangements will either be of an Ikebana design, or a vase mass.

After retiring from her nursing career, Lewis and her husband purchased the Eastport building that housed a flower shop and sandwich shop from Al Kinney. She became a certified florist and pursued her new talent wholeheartedly, taking the first Maine master floral design classes and becoming a Maine master floral designer. After the building was sold, she continued as a freelance floral designer.

Workshop spaces are limited; participants must register with Alison Brennan at alison@eastportartscenter.org. The $15 fee includes all materials—flowers and a vase.

Support for this workshop has been provided by Belvedere Traditional Handcrafts Fund of the Maine Community Foundation.  A sliding fee scale is available by request.
